What made you start the business? A friend introduced me to Tropic Skincare four years ago, at the launch of the product. Tropic Skincare was founded by Susie Ma, a talented entrepreneur who appeared on the Apprentice, where Lord Sugar was so impressed and based on the rave reviews by his wife, went on to invest in Susie and her business. Although I adored the products, it wasn’t quite the right time to become involved, due to working long hours in my husband’s business, and looking after our three teenage boys. I’ve since exited the business, providing occasional support and this has provided me with the ideal opportunity to pick up where I left off with Tropic Skincare, which is an amazing opportunity.
What are the challenges you face? Moving from software and telecommunications services to product sales in the skincare and beauty industry, is completely different. That said, the business tools and support from Tropic Skincare HQ is second to none and my up-line is a lovely lady who stays in touch regularly.
What do you love about your business? The products are just amazing. Everything is 100% naturally derived, endorsed by the Vegan Society and the company has won numerous awards and accolades from the likes of The Beauty Shortlist Awards, Natural Health and Beauty Awards, The Green Parent Natural Beauty Awards, Best Business Awards and it’s also a Times Fast Track 100 Company, sponsored by Virgin. The list just goes on and on. There are regular events, training sessions, meetings and comprehensive online tools providing help with social media, marketing and business planning.
Who are your target audience? The products are aimed at anyone with a keen interest in looking and feeling great. Tropic Skincare are always developing exciting new product lines and what makes us unique, is that many of the products are still hand blended, right here in the UK in our Surrey Beauty Kitchen.
What do your products offer to your customers? Most importantly, we offer the assurance that no chemicals are incorporated into our products. Only pure, honest and effective ingredients are used, which makes them suitable for all skin types. To complement our skincare offering, we have a wonderful make up range which is made in a variety of colours to suit all skin tones. As with each of our products, a little really does go a long way.
How can people find out about your products and starting their own business? Get in touch, let’s have a chat over a cuppa, see the range for yourself and then decide. I’m so glad I took the leap. The opportunity is brilliant and we advise anyone who is new to the business, to start with inviting friends and family to hold small pamper parties, which are great fun. The hostess always receives a free gift, which is a fabulous incentive.
